The origin story
Nadira Azermai was an 18-year-old tourist in Los Angeles when she witnessed the filming of one of Hollywood's most infamous disasters. Gigli — starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez — cost $76 million to produce and returned just $7.2 million at the box office. It scored 6% on Rotten Tomatoes. The loss was catastrophic.
The question that stayed with her: could this have been prevented at the script stage? Not after the cast was signed. Not after production wrapped. At the screenplay. Before a single dollar of production budget was committed.
That question became the subject of her master's thesis at Ghent University. Her research explored using AI to quantify story parameters into predictive models for motion pictures — and the signal was stronger than anyone expected. Instead of pursuing a PhD, she launched ScriptBook in 2014.
Over the next decade, she raised venture capital, built a team, trained the AI on over 100.000 scripts, secured two patents (EU and US), and validated the technology in formal studies with major Hollywood studios. The result: 80% greenlight accuracy versus the industry's 36%. ScriptBook outperformed Hollywood's own decision-making process by more than double.
Today, ScriptBook is the world's original and most proven AI platform for screenplay analysis and box office prediction — trusted by screenwriters, producers, studios, and production companies across the globe.

With a background in Engineering & Applied Economics, Nadira Azermai set out to build what Hollywood had never seen: the first AI to predict box office success from a screenplay alone. DeepStory AI followed: a proprietary story generation platform built before the world knew what GPT was.
She lives in Belgium, where she devotes her time to building mindful AI for the betterment of humanity, and writing about the systems that make that necessary.

The book
Published under the pen name N.D. Zerman, this is the unfiltered memoir of building ScriptBook AI inside an industry that sells dreams and punishes disruption.
"Hollywood doesn't fear technology — it fears exposure. Innovation is welcomed only when it protects existing power and buried the moment it exposes flawed judgement or fragile myths."
— from The Hollywood Chronicles of a Female Tech FounderShuttling between venture capital boardrooms and studio backlots, Nadira pulls back the curtain on two parallel ecosystems built on the same rules: backstabbing disguised as networking, exclusion justified as instinct, and a ruthless hierarchy that rewards loyalty over truth.
In both Hollywood and venture capital, funding flows not to what works — but to who controls the narrative. For a woman founder, the margin for survival is narrow: conform, diminish, or disappear.
This is not a startup success story.
It is the story of how ScriptBook was built against the grain — and what the film industry's reaction to data-driven transparency reveals about the institutions that still decide who gets to tell stories, and whose stories get told.
